5 Harsh Takeaways from My First Month on Fiverr
As a stay-at-home mom and writer, I am always looking for ideas to add a little extra income to my household despite having an extremely limited amount of free time in my day. I became especially intrigued by Fiverr after seeing countless YouTube videos with freelancers claiming to have earned up to six figures on the platform.
I started researching as much as I could about how to become a successful seller on Fiverr. I added a video, pictures, personal touches with a professional profile, and samples of my work. By the time I posted my first couple of gigs, I felt confident that my research would pay off.
I published two gigs to start after scouring the site for ideas that matched my qualifications. As an author who loves to beta read, the idea of beta reading manuscripts and getting paid to do so sounded amazing.
I also posted a ghostwriting gig but did not include a video for that one. I knew I wouldn’t get rich by any means by offering these services, but I wanted to dip my toe in before branching to other services.
Within 10 hours I had my first gig as a beta reader. I couldn’t believe it! It was a custom order to read a children’s book that was going into its second publication. I completed the order within 24 hours and received a 5-star review.
